Production & Capture Tools

Eight tools you use before you press record: where to place text, where to stand, how to light, how loud to record.

Vertical Safe Zone Visualizer

See exactly which screen area is covered by the platform UI (like button, caption drawer, username overlay, etc.) on TikTok, Reels and Shorts.

How to use this

Anything you place inside the red overlay bands will be hidden behind platform UI on most phones. Move captions, logos and key text into the white "safe" center. The striped yellow areas are "risky" - sometimes visible, sometimes not, depending on device.

Notes

UI overlays are estimated from publicly documented region percentages plus recent creator-broadcast measurements. They change with platform A/B tests; re-check before each big campaign.

Aspect Ratio Crop Visualizer

See how a horizontal 16:9 source is cropped into vertical 9:16, 1:1, or 4:5. Helps decide where to put the subject.

How to interpret

Red bars are what gets cut off. Numbers show the side pixels lost. Frame your original shot with both aspects in mind: keep key action inside the small inner box.

3-Point Lighting Visualizer

Interactive SVG. Choose your subject position; we propose Key / Fill / Back positions for a flattering look.

How to read positions

Key light is 1.5-2× brighter than fill, placed off-axis to create shadow modeling. Back / rim light separates the subject from the background. Use distances 1-3 m for a phone-sized subject.

Audio LUFS Target per platform

Integrated LUFS targets differ by platform. Hit the right number and you don't get re-encoded / quiet.

Measure with YouLean Loudness Meter, ffmpeg loudnorm, or Auphonic. Integrated LUFS = whole-clip loudness.
How to interpret

Each platform re-normalises audio to its own spec. Match within ±1 LUFS of the target and your viewers won't need to crank their volume between videos. Going louder doesn't help - platforms clip.

Limits

Some platforms use true-peak (dBTP) limits instead of LUFS in some regions. We surface the dominant documented target. Standards change; verify against your platform's audio creator help page.

Bitrate × Runtime File Size

Estimate your exported short's file size; check it against each platform's upload cap.

How to interpret

A 30 s 1080p vertical at 12 Mbps ≈ 45 MB. For most platforms 10-15 Mbps is the "good enough" sweet spot. Push higher only if your content has heavy motion (sports, dance, VFX).

Horizontal → Vertical Crop Detector

Tell us where the subject sits in your horizontal frame and we'll tell you if 9:16 vertical loses them.

How to interpret

If you placed your subject far off-center and shot wide, the vertical crop will exclude them entirely. The static-crop verdict in this tool is conservative; keyframing can rescue medium-wide shots.

Color Temperature Visualizer (K)

Pick a Kelvin value; see the cast and a typical mood context. Useful when matching mixed lighting.

4500 K · Neutral Daylight
How to interpret

Lower K = warmer (orange). Higher K = cooler (blue). For honest skin tones, 4500-5500 K is the sweet spot. Sunrise / sunset golden hour is roughly 3000 K; overcast midday 6500 K.

Camera-to-Subject Distance & Focal Length

Two-way calculator: enter subject height + frame fill, get distance + recommended focal length.

How to interpret

Phone shooters typically work at 24-28mm equivalent. A wider lens flattens faces; a longer one adds depth compression. For seated talking heads, 35-50mm equivalent looks most polished.
